Cloud365 was proud to attend the official inauguration of AtlasEdge’s first data centre in Portugal, LIS001, marking an important milestone in both the national and European digital landscape. The event took place recently with an on-site ceremony at the Carnaxide facility, followed by a celebration at Suspenso Rooftop in Lisbon, bringing together clients, partners and institutional stakeholders.

The inauguration coincided with the announcement of a €253 million green financing package to support the expansion of the AtlasEdge Lisbon campus, which will include three phases and a total capacity of 30 MW. LIS001 already has its first customers installed, LIS002 is currently in the planning phase with operations expected to start in 2028, and LIS003 will be built on a newly acquired 10,000 m² plot adjacent to LIS002.

This investment reinforces Lisbon’s role as a strategic digital hub connecting Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas. The site benefits from its proximity, less than 10 km, to the Carcavelos submarine cable landing station, ensuring high bandwidth and low latency connectivity.

Tesh Durvasula, CEO of AtlasEdge, highlighted that “The launch of LIS001, the addition of LIS002 and LIS003, and this green financing demonstrate the momentum we are building across the Iberian Peninsula, a region with significant growth potential. The project will operate using 100% renewable energy and is fully aligned with Portugal’s status as the world’s fourth-largest producer of solar and wind energy.
